Coyolxauhqui Is known as Golden bells, the feminine goddess of the moon. As a Transgender person, I wanted to recreate this deity into an Transgender person. There have always been Transgender deities within Indigenous cultural folklore. Due to colonialism, these Transgender deities are often erased or minimized to the gender binary of man or woman instead of feminine or masculine energies. Similarly to the phases of the moon, the essence of being Non-Binary relates to breaking apart binaries and ways of being... To be Non-Binary allows ourselves to be a full spectrum of things and feels as whole as a full moon. In this series, I have honored our complexies and spectrum of what it means to be Transgender and Non-Binary using the moon phase cycle. We are anew yet whole and complete - through this process our essence as multidimensional beings continues through physical and spiritual realms that gives us power.
